Custom airbrushed Lexan shells — hobby painter based in Palmer, Massachusetts.
The painter
The painter behind Off-the-Hwal has been drawing for as long as he can remember and airbrushing T-shirts and towels since his teens. When his brothers spent weekends racing RC at a nearby track, the paint schemes on those trucks and cars caught his eye — and he jumped at the chance to paint their shells.
His first RC shell was finished in July 2010 for his brother. He’s been hooked ever since, always chasing new tricks and techniques so every shell is better than the last.
The work
Under the Off-the-Hwal name, he airbrushes Lexan bodies to order with name-brand paints such as Faskolor, Createx, Pactra, and Alclad II. Jobs range from clean two-color schemes to fades, streaks, flames, tribals, and carbon-fiber effects. Every shell is unique — no two are exactly alike.
Designs are hand-cut in liquid mask on the underside of the body. Headlight, grille, and blinker decals that ship with the shell can be applied on request. Finished bodies are carefully wrapped and packed for track hand-off or mail.
Location & turnaround
Based in Palmer, Massachusetts. Because this sits alongside a full-time job, plan on about three weeks after the blank shell arrives — timing depends on order volume and complexity. You’ll get a clear timeframe up front and progress updates along the way.
